That’s a great idea for a show. How you chose the equipment you have. After watching for a while I’m sure I’m not the only one thinking about what camera I want to buy and why you chose the one you have.

Altough I do carry a Sony DSR-PD170 during footage aquisition, I always carry my Sony W100 for shooting unexpected moments. Generally at wedding’s receptions and parties those unique moments are very often. So, at some time you may find me holding the camcorder with my right hand, and left hand is “trying” to shoot some singular fractions of seconds that my eyes thought it would be worth capturing.

Thanks Israel, for your great job as podcaster. It has been very inspiring for me. Keep going! ;-)

For me, portability is key. I use a Panasonic DVC30 which is small, built like a tank, and has great low-light capabilities. I also carry a Steadicam Merlin which folds up nicely and tucks away in the bag.

    Hi Izzy,

    Maybe you can help me.

I have a Canon GL1. I try to find articles about people using the GL1 and it seems like there are not many. Why is that? Is the GL1 not a good camera to use? Is there a good place to get tips and stories on people who are using the Canon GL1. It seems like everyday there is a better camera to use and I know it isn’t the best one out there but please…..

    Thanks for any thoughts.

    Hey Izzy,

I have a Canon XM2 (PAL GL2). Still learning to get my footage looking as good as yours though.

Tim, dvinfo.net has quite a few people using the GL1. You may find some help there.

    Hello,
I carry two Canon GL2′s, a Sennheiser wireless rig, sennheiser and Azden shotguns, bogen vid pods w/ 501 heads (great for the price!) and Pelican makes me feel safe as a baby in the womb. I also carry a LensPen for that last minute smudge or dust on the lens. (I went with Canon to mix in with our Church’s Canon equipment and am very happy with my choice).

    Thanks for the Podcast Izzy,
    Mike

I have a Sony VX2000. The king of low light does not dissapoint!!!

I was originally looking at a DVC 30 which is a great unit however the VX2000′s bigger 1/3″ CCDs edge the DVC30 in low light by nice margin.

    I also have a Panasonic Gs300 3CCD camcorder.

    Custom Steadycam.
    Custom Shoulder brace.

IRiver 895 with custom Giant Squid Lavalier.
