    The film project I’m currently working on involved a number of shots where the scene switches from an actress working at her computer to screen capture footage of her typing in a word processing application. These “shots” had no accompanying sound it the effect was terrible. This simple tutorial solved my problem and allowed me to “fill in the gaps” and have the sound flow very naturally through the transitions. Thanks Izzy!

    I thought it would be ok too if we use the noise in the same clip, chop it some where, copy and paste with to fill the “mute” hole?

    I have to tell you the “cough story”. Before home video back in 1976 we recorded and shot slides of a Bicentennial event (a recreation of a 1776 church service), then assembled an audio/visual program. One problem; the main speaker was not on mic. So we got him to read his speech again at my house some days later. In order to recreate the room noise, I found a 48-second length of time in which nobody spoke and no music was playing. I dubbed that to another reel-to-reel tape and spliced the 48 seconds into one long loop, which we ran around the room over the backs of some hardwood chairs and through a tape recorder. I mixed his voice over the room noise loop into another recorder, and no one could tell it was not the original! Except me. There was one cough in that loop and every 48 seconds, right on cue, Cough!

    What a great story, Bill! I haven’t had the same thing happen with a cough yet, but I have had it happen with a faint motorcycle sound in the distant background. I’m pretty sure I was the only one who heard it.

    Or at least I hope so!

    Hey, it’s me again. I just wanted you to know that I find quite annoying the following thing: while I’m waiting for the video to load, I always browse the content of the page and click links. I don’t like that they open in the same window, because if I’m not careful enough, the window loads and I lose the buffered video. So if you could add target=”_new” at the links shown on the comments part, it would be just great.
