Audio can be a big problem in your video. It’s especially challenging when you’re shooting in a room with hard floors, walls, tables, and ceilings. The sound waves bounce around and reduce the quality of your audio with echo. If you’ve ever tried to capture good audio for your video in a room with hard floors, you’ll like this tutorial. In it, I show you how to dramatically reduce (or even eliminate) echo from your audio.

A couple weeks ago I mentioned in my newsletter that I was turning old VHS and 8mm video into digital video to store on hard drives. Since then, I’ve received many emails from viewers asking me to show how to convert analog video to digital video.

This members-only edition of Izzy Video will show you the exact steps to take.

As an additional note, I want to emphasize that I feel this is a high priority for people in the world today. We don’t know how much longer we’ll be able to get ahold of VCR’s and 8mm video cameras. If you have old video, please don’t procrastinate. Convert that old footage to digital. This will give you a digital master you can use for a number of different things in the future.

When you shoot video of a trade show, it can be an enormous challenge because there are so many variables. You have crazy lighting from the overhead lights as well as from the lights on the different booths. Along with other technical challenges, many times you have to deal with the challenge of getting the video shot, edited, and posted on the web because speed is important too. What can you do to help speed up the process?

In this installment of Izzy Video, I give several crucial tips to help you shoot video of a trade show. Hopefully this will save you from having to learn these lessons “the hard way.”

If you think about it, a video camera is similar to a regular still camera shooting 30 frames per second. There ARE some huge differences, but it’s definitely possible to export a single frame from your video in 1080p and then print it as a 4×6 photo. I’ve done it, and it looks pretty darn good.

In this tutorial, I’ll show you a simple way to export a single frame of video for printing or for posting to the web…or really whatever you want to do with it. Also, I’ll show you how to export a sequence of images.

This tutorial is for members only, but you can watch the trailer here.

UPDATE: I’ve had a few viewers tell me that their version of Quicktime doesn’t allow exporting like I show in this video. I guess I have Quicktime Pro and didn’t even realize it (It must have been installed with Final Cut Studio or something.) Sorry about the confusion… I suppose it’s not quite a free method for doing things.

If you’re shooting video of a live event, it’s best to have several cameras capturing at the same time. Generally, the more angles you have on the action, the better.

This installment of Izzy Video is how to edit the footage from all of those cameras. The application I use in the tutorial is Final Cut Pro, but you can likely do similar things in other editing applications.

If you want to know how to switch between different camera angles inside Final Cut Pro, you’ll love this video.

Please note: The project files will only work in Final Cut Pro 7.

This one is for members only, but you can watch the Quicktime trailer here.

If you want access to this tutorial as well as the large library of archived videos, you need to become an Izzy Video Member.

One of the most popular questions I get from viewers is “What video camera should I buy?”

This question is easier to answer than you would think, and you might find the answer surprisingly simple. In this episode of Izzy Video I tell you how to decide what camera to get. This could prevent you from wasting hundreds of dollars by buying the wrong camera…

This is part three of my series on shooting video with a Digital SLR, and it’s all about dealing with the bad audio capabilities of these types of cameras. I’m going to go out on a limb and make a big statement here:

If you have a Canon 5D Mark II, this episode could save you money because it might prevent you from purchasing a tempting-but-unnecessary piece of gear.

If I would have seen this video or something like it before-hand, I wouldn’t have spent the $350 it took to purchase the piece of gear I show in this tutorial.

This episode of Izzy Video is part 2 in my series on shooting video with a Digital SLR.

Digital SLR cameras are excellent for shooting video indoors and at night because you can increase the ISO until you have a nice exposure. One of the challenges though is that when you’re shooting video, you usually don’t want a shutter speed other than 1/60th of a second.

This can become a problem in the sunny outdoors because when you want to blur out the backgrounds (shallow depth of field), then you need the aperture open all the way. This lets in too much light which leads to overexposure, and you’ll see in this video, how you can solve that problem.

The variable ND filter you’ll see in this video is this one.
