Move Events and Archive Projects in Final Cut Pro X – Izzy Video 197

Izzy Video 197

Video files are enormous, so they fill up your hard drive fast. It can be a struggle keeping enough room on your media drive to ensure you can work on your next project.

Because of this, it’s useful to develop a workflow where you’re periodically moving files off of your media drive (scratch drive) and onto external drives to free up space on your computer.

Naturally, when you move the files you don’t want to delete them or lose track of them. You want to retain them and easily find them in the future.

In previous videos, I’ve shown you how I catalog files. In this new video tutorial, I demonstrate my workflow of managing media inside of Final Cut Pro X.

If you’re a Final Cut Pro X user, I think you’ll find this helpful. It will certainly prevent a lot of headaches!

This is a members-only video tutorial. If you’re not already a member, you can learn about a membership here.

yup helpful for sure, i wouldn’t have figured this out on my own. i just always go to the Finder and search through folders i’ve made. they way you showed is way more simple and all within the same program.
    thanks for sharing

Hi Izzy, Thanks for this great video. Can I just ask. I did not notice a back up or copy of your scarycylon drive but you have a copy of your archive drive. Do you have a copy of your working scarycylon drive? I am just planning what I need to do. your video has made things a ot clear for me. Thanks a mill………. Bryan

    Hi Bryan,

Yes, I have a backup of my scarycylon drive. I use Chronosync to automatically backup my project folders every day to a different drive.

I have a recent video I did on this subject too where I show my workflow…

    I hope that helps!

I’m still trying to figure out how to get this tutorial. I AM a member but when I click “Login” just above this window I get nowhere. I’m hopelessly lost with my events, I’ve made a gynormous mess and I can’t find where to go here either! :-)
