When you shoot video of a trade show, it can be an enormous challenge because there are so many variables. You have crazy lighting from the overhead lights as well as from the lights on the different booths. Along with other technical challenges, many times you have to deal with the challenge of getting the video shot, edited, and posted on the web because speed is important too. What can you do to help speed up the process?

In this installment of Izzy Video, I give several crucial tips to help you shoot video of a trade show. Hopefully this will save you from having to learn these lessons “the hard way.”

    Hi, curious when you said about using the 18% gray card for what balancing. Is that the same thing as exposure? wouldn’t you use the white side to set the white balance? i just joined the site and i’m kinda new to the whole video thing.

    Hi there!

    You can actually do either. You can white balance on a gray card or a white card. The important things is that there’s no color in it, and of course there isn’t inside of the gray side of a card. A gray card is also excellent for setting exposure.

    One of the things that’s so handy about an 18% gray card is that you can use it for both.
