    Hi Israel,
Just became a member a few days ago and …WOW! Great, great content. I really have enjoyed watching and learning. I aspire to go forth and do likewise.

On your latest video, you recommend against DV tape format. While I understand what you are saying about the future proofing, there are some benefits with sticking with DV tape based HD camcorders such as the Canon HV40. I don’t have proof but I’ve read that DV tape based camcorders do much better in low light. Supposedly the newer cameras (non DV tape) have ghosty or blurred images in low light or high motion (like soccer, football, etc.). I’ve also read about artifacts on the video due to compression. DV tape based camcorders don’t have this since their video is not compressed in the camera. Finally, the DV tapes are a great backup in case your computer is corrupted or stolen.

Just some thoughts. Keep up the great work!

    I agree with Grant.

I was really surprised when you said avoid tape based cameras. I agree that things will be going tapeless in the future, but I have heard that there is far less compression when using tape. Also you can get frame by frame resolution when editing.

I was ready to buy the HV40 until you said that and now I’m confused.
