Hi All,

Thought I share my thoughts on the ShuttlePro2 from Countour Desing with you. See it here: http://retail.contou...m/?/products/23 (Izzy: hope it is oke to link to the company?)

Bought this unit 2 weeks ago and I am really found of it. I bought it because of the Jog wheel and the Shuttle control. Not so much for the buttons (that are all programmable btw). Well, turns out that I use the buttons a lot! The lower buttons I use for Zooming and Undo, the upper 2 rows (9 buttons!) I use for transport control (play, stop, reverse, next edit, etc.). Mind that I'm still no pro using this device so maybe this is not the final layout. Also it can uses more sets of instructions and it is very easy to switch between them. So a set for capturing and a different one for editing is very easy to do.

The Jog and Shuttle control are a bless. Nothing wrong with the JKL keys of course but using the ShuttlePro it feels much more natural. And with the 2 buttons on the left and the right of the jog/shuttle control, I don't have to take my hands of this device (mind, I'm using it in combination with the mouse) while marking my clips with the in and out points. What a bless :)

Hope this info is useful, if you have any questions, just ask!

Cheers!

PS Made my own set of instructions for FCE so if anyone is interested, let me know.

Great feedback. I've looked at this device several times but never purchased it. I think if I spent several hours every day editing, I'd definitely get it. It seems like a real time saver.

I would very much like to see the instructions for FCE. I bought one , but I've yet to sort out how to set up the buttons. So far about all I use are the jog and shuttle wheels.
As I'm still learning, I find myself reaching for my mouse a great deal as well. Its a logitech MX mouse, which has a wheel on it...which I've found works nicely too...tho not as nice as the ShuttlePro v2 (I got the silver one to match my mac)

I am finding the video's on this site very helpful...although of course, I have to go thru them several times. What I'd like to do (to save on Izzy's bandwidth) is to just download the training video's all at once.
I'm also very interested in learning Final Cut Pro X ... so whenever Izzy comes out with some training vids for that, it would be nice. I bought "Motion" , tho I don't see anybody with training video's for how to use it. I downloaded it off of
Apple's store, so I don't have any books on it...and would appreciate some recommendations for books/vids.

My goal is to get to the point where I fully understand how to use FCP X , Motion and After Effects...and perhaps Photoshop as well...using them together to create special effects for short films. Any advice or suggestions that help me along the way are appreciated. Thanks.

I have been using the Shuttle Xpress for a few months now and could not live without it. It is a great tool.
