Izzy Video 065 – Breaking the Rules

izzyvideo65

In previous episodes I have focused so much on following the rules associated with videography, lighting, and editing, that I thought it might be interesting to have one episode devoted to breaking the rules. This was a fun one for us.

Enjoy!

Thank you to everyone who is supporting our new direction!

I am very disappointed that you now require a paid membership. I have told a lot of people about your podcast/web site and I have viewed just about every video you have. Now I will only view the free videos if any. There used to be two things that separated your tutorials from others. They were free, and they were very easy to understand. You have lost a lot of viewers by making this decision, I am sure of it.

Leslie – first off, it’s still free – just smaller resolution. And second, why would you expect for someone to work as hard as Izzy does and not be compensated? I think if people make a good product they should get paid for it. Do you do your job without pay?

First off, there are a few free tutorials (today 11) not all of them. And second, I thought this was a “hobby” of his, and not his full time job. Perhaps that has changed and he is now a full time podcaster. If so, more power to him. I certainly have not ruled out paying the fee because honestly the site is top notch and by far the best I have seen. To answer your question, No, I do not do my job without pay. I do my hobby without pay, which is producing videos for a non-profit organization. Izzy will probably get a payment from me once the video archive gets up to about 100 or so, but right now I will just be a cheapskate and check out the great free samples.

    Leslie,

As you can see from episode #67, it looks like quite a bit of work goes into each of these podcasts. And that doesn’t include post-processing time. And he does it for 2 other podcasts as well. All I’m saying is it’s clearly beyond just a “hobby” – granted it’s not his full-time job (yet, izzy?) but it seems more like a second job.

I have to say, though – if you look at the whole collection of tutorials in whole, it could easily be something sold as a major instructional DVD. Seems like something of value. I’m just glad I watched them as they came out!!

A fool and his money are easily parted. Thanks for proving that proverb, Izzy! Keep the vanity podcast coming.
