Hello Izzy

My name is Harris and I just sort of fell into your site by mistake. When I was looking around at your site and looked at some of the comments your so called long time viewers said I was in shock to say the least. I find your take on video production to be very on point and told in a very easy to understand manner. I myself own a small video production company in Fort Myers Florida. And damm do I wish a guy like you was around when I was green. I am telling you this because times are hard these days and it looks as you gave of your skill and time for a long while for free. If this art was so easy to do then everybody in life would have a feature film out. You deserve to get something other than a pat on the back for your talent. So keep strong and understand that this is an art never forget that your info has value. I too am looked at as the bad guy for charging for my wares and my skills. Not to mention the amount of gear I have “I cry everytime I take a real look at what I own” but then I smile as well because of all the wonderful things I can do with it. Anyways take care…..

I’m disappointed. Most of your viewers are new filmmakers and DIY type people on limited budgets. I thought here’s a guy from my home state, probably my backyard, “giving of himself” to those who want to learn – how very giving of him. I have given your link to tons of people, but now they won’t be able to benefit unless they pay – oh well. I understand you want to make money or cover some costs. Maybe put out a video once a month instead of every week and keep it free. I think you’ll lose quite a few viewers – and that’s a shame because I see your name all over the film/DV forums as an excellent web site for learning. It will still be an excellent web site I’m sure, but very few will be viewing it. Good luck with your venture.

Well, since I am a teenage moviemaker with no budget whatsoever, I guess I’m saying so long to the amazing izzyvideo ‘cast. I’ll keep coming back for the free episodes, but there’s just no way I can afford the “Premium Subscriber” package. Sounds like I’m applying for a credit card. Too bad, too. I really liked all the not-so-entry-level episodes.

I enjoy a number of podcasts however I have not developed the confidence in the creators to pay for these “premium memberships” Revision3 has tried this yet they will unexpectedly cancel shows but claim the next one is just weeks away (The Broken, Control Alt Chicken) Glimpster has done the same with Woven Shadows. You could fork over the dough and Izzy video could just stop production the next day. It’s really too bad this is the model that is being choosen to fund these shows. I think an advertising approach would be better at keeping the download numbers up. Mac Break Studio will be a good replacement I guess.

I think the complaints about the Premium Subscriber plans are rather unfair. Israel has been creating high quality free instructional videos for a long time. Let’s be thankful for that.
You can’t blame him that he needs to look for a way to create a business model for that.

The freely available episodes offer a very nice overview of a lot of topics. You would also have been sad if Israel had decided to stop completely with Izzy Video just because he was unable to combine this with ‘his regular job’ (most of us have a regular job to pay the bills).

I’ve been using podsafe music in my audio podcast a lot and from time to time I buy a CD from one of the artists that I like and whose music I use.
Look at it from that point: this is a way to support someone that creates a lot of valuable content, who helped you to save time figuring it out yourself and saved you a lot of money buying books that probably explained it not as good as Israel does.

And yes, I did sign up as a Premium Subscriber even though I’ve been watching the videos since episode number 1.
I think it is $45 well spent.

45$ is for six months. Your proposal makes almost 60$…

Anyway, I was thinking about this all day and everything that pops into my mind is: Enable Revver pre-rolls! Your videos are long, in english and cover a lot in an interesting field (not to mention hyper quality and fan base). Considering that, I’m almost positive you’ll get many pre-rolls which bring much more money then those clickable ads in the end(even to ten times more, I read somewhere).

But you might had pre-rolls enabled all the time and it didn’t work.

Hi Izzy

If you are a new visitor and buys the premium membership and get all 67 episodes then 67 cents is cheap, but i guess that most of us that have followed Izzyvidoes from the beginning have saved all the 55 episodes on computer HDD.

So $45 for the 12 new episodes = $3.75 for each episode, kind of expensive i think.

Probably you will lose a lot of us regular viewers if you continue with that high price, the idea with a membership with better quality is great but please lower the price.
How about like $9.95/month.
