Izzy Video 25 - Interesting Lines

Izzy Video 25 demonstrates how using lines can create a more interesting image. This technique is an easy one to learn, and it’s one you can immediately use whether you’re shooting home or formal video. The principles of cinematography are universal.
This is the link to the video.
And again, thanks for all the amazing feedback. Every day I get many emails from new subscribers praising the series. I appreciate the feedback very much, and it motivates me to make more!
Once you’re done watching this video, you can also watch other free sample episodes.

I’m not interested in how to produce Podcasts.
April 4th, 2006 at 10:17 pm
Hi Israel,
Good stuff as always!
The Lambs would like to see a weekly podcast on the magic of Final Cut Pro. (How too’s & quick tips)
No one has taken on the task to teach FCP to the masses thru podcasting YET!
We are still perfecting our story telling thru film and editing via FCP.
We have no interest in podcasting at this time.
Again, we love the work you do. Please keep it coming!

Yes, I am very interested in a how-to series on video podcasting.
April 5th, 2006 at 12:56 am
DO IT PLEASE!
So far your vidcasts have helped me out a great deal in some amateur productions, but I fell into a ton of snags. How to shoot dialog with one camera from different angles to make it interesting (but keep dialog coherent). Dramatic pauses, cut-aways, and how to use ‘beats’ when editing.
This is the next step for the vidcast, go for it!!
April 5th, 2006 at 1:11 am
Great podcast, I’d rather see more episodes of izzyvideo than how to make podcasts. Add my vote as a ‘no’.
April 5th, 2006 at 1:15 am
Great show, use it to teach DV all the time. Would really like to see a podcast on how to do video podcasting.
April 5th, 2006 at 3:36 am
Yeah, podcasting is not really a priority
April 5th, 2006 at 5:09 am
Sure, if it doesn’t take time away from your oh so useful video tutorials, go for it. But if you do I would prefer some info beyond what is in the standard “learn to podcast” podcast by Apple.

April 5th, 2006 at 5:18 am
I’m very interested in learning how to make video podcasts. Very good idea!
April 5th, 2006 at 5:27 am
Wow, this is interesting! So far it’s 5 who say no and 4 who say yes.
I’m very glad I asked before shooting them. Of course, I’ll hold off on making a decision until after receiving more comments.
Thanks for the feedback so far everyone!
April 5th, 2006 at 5:37 am
I definitely would not mind learning how to properly podcast. I do not think that this project should take away from the usual “technique” based show, so that would mean even more work to adequately produce both. If it comes down to only one show, keep the current format. Teach us how to film before teaching us to share how bad we are at filming. Thanks for all the great info, and don’t worry about being late.
April 5th, 2006 at 5:49 am
Hi Izzy,
I would love to see some shows on how to do video podcasts! Thank you for all of the great podcasts so far.
April 5th, 2006 at 6:06 am
A video showing the process you go through to produce a video podcast would be very interesting to see. Yes please!
April 5th, 2006 at 6:57 am
I completely agree with the previous comment. Please resume on teaching us how to film before teaching us to share how bad we are at filming !
Thanks so much for your work
April 5th, 2006 at 6:59 am
I would like to see the “Making iPod Webcasts” series of videos! Thanks for your efforts!
April 5th, 2006 at 7:02 am
Izzy,
I say no. I’m sure it already takes plenty of time just to produce the very instructive videos that you are doing now.
I’m very interested in any tips on how to shoot better DV. Most of my recording is just of the kids/family/dog type. And then using iMovie/iDVD to make something interesting for the extended family.
There are already other sources out there on how to podcast/vidocast and I know I can figure out the publishing and rss part if I ever need to. Heck, with iWeb it is not really more than a simple drag, drop and button push.
I do find the tips on shooting video to be very helpful. My top request would be for any hints on how to take simple, amateur video shot with a single DV camcorder at a family event and edit into something that looks much more professional. For example, when recording a kids sporting event or school play, the lack of second camera coverage shots makes it hard for me to figure out how to use cut-aways or inserts. Or even to edit a sequence the way you showed in Izzy Video 20 - Cutting.

April 5th, 2006 at 7:34 am
I would rather learn techniques on FCP then podcasting, but everything and anything is great! Yes or no… keep them coming!
April 5th, 2006 at 8:06 am
I agree with the folks who say not to put up videos on how to podcast, there is a great one done by apple, no need to duplicate it.
Keep up the good work on your current podcasts in creating better video.
Putting up techniques to use FCP or iMovie would be great though.
April 5th, 2006 at 8:12 am
Israel,
1. Thanks for the great tips and examples in Episode 25. I can’t believe how a little attention to detail (after you say what the detail is) makes for better video. It’s simple stuff that never enters the mind.
2. I would certainly like to see a How To series on Video Podcasts. I hear people mention during their shows how they have to use 3-4 applications in post production to get the thing edited, formatted, and ultimately uploaded. Why? That sounds like too much work.
I guess my only question would be: Is this a Mac or Windows tutorial?
April 5th, 2006 at 9:17 am
I’m very interested in learning about creating video podcasts. I don’t think you need to go through shooting and editing the video. Most of us have experience producing the content. Most of us should be able to figure out creating the Quicktime movie. I think the part that gets more confusing and is less documented is creating your RSS feed, and then how you get your video listed through various sites and services, such as iTunes.
Thanks again for all the hard work you put in to producing these videos. I teach digital video production workshops for a liberal arts college in Maryland, and I both refer student to your video podcast as well as refer to them myself when I prepare teaching materials. Your work is not going to waste!
April 5th, 2006 at 9:19 am
I’d love to have that resource to refer people to, I think the audience within your current viewers may not be large but there are tons of people trying to start doing this, and for many of them freevlog is not the right resource so I think it would be great to have another option. That said, keep making these too! They’re great!
April 5th, 2006 at 9:22 am
In my previous statement, I want to refrase something… Most of us know how to produce the video portion of the podcast… But I’m not saying stop creating your DV podcasts… I’m just saying there’s no need to go through a video production how-to speicifically for video podcast purposes, unless there are key aspects you keep in mind that differ from producing DV for DVD or web, etc.
April 5th, 2006 at 9:37 am
Yes………please…….I am very interested in learning the process of creating video podcasts.
April 5th, 2006 at 10:20 am
personally i think i’d be able to find enough material on RSS feeds and such, but the whole encoding aspect would interest me a lot.
- what you use to encode softwarewise
- what your experiences are with bitrates, codecs, deinterlacing etc.
- comparisons high resolution@low bitrate vs. lower res@higher bitrate etc.
- how to set up videos integrated into a website
- different codecs for different purposes
but all in all i really enjoy the advice you’re givin on shooting. and the comparisons you already did (mikes, lighting, etc) kicked S! ;-)
April 5th, 2006 at 10:31 am
I’d be very interested in your take on methods to podcast video.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:24 am
I am interested in Video Podcasting… the quality of your productions is very high …so I would enjoy anything you produced.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:44 am
Izzy,
Always find your stuff useful and informative. I would be interested in seeing a podcast on how to podcast. I’d like to start up my own online video network focusing on fiction so it’d be very helpful.
April 5th, 2006 at 1:33 pm
Very, very interested. I like Nicholas Kristof’s (NYT) focus on journalism, not tourism and I think video podcasts have great potential for helping “flatten the world.”
April 5th, 2006 at 1:48 pm
Yes, a podcast on how to make a video podcast would be great!
P.S. Your podcast is great!:)
April 5th, 2006 at 3:23 pm
I’d love to see the show.
April 5th, 2006 at 3:30 pm
Greetings from Australia,
Love your podcast. I would be very interested in a video podcast tutorial. Keep up the excellent work.
April 5th, 2006 at 3:42 pm
I would be very interested in the “how to video podcast” video podcast.
April 5th, 2006 at 4:21 pm
I’d love to see a tutorial series on video podcasting with your very effective style of teaching. I’ve been interested in video podcasting lately and would really find it useful.
April 5th, 2006 at 4:24 pm
Really love this weeks show. made me do a lot of thinking.
I would like to see a series on how to make a video podcast.
I would also like to see a few on post production/editing of videos. At the moment I just go with what I think works well.
Could you set up a subscription on paypal donation so people can donate say $2 a month or is there any other way I can set this up with you?
keep up the great work
April 5th, 2006 at 4:34 pm
I have thought about doing a video podcast or podcast before, and I would love to see a more in depth explaination of how todo so. Some things that seem complicated for me are mic selection, compression of video but still retain quality…ect.
April 5th, 2006 at 4:36 pm
Great episode.
I think the podcast tutorial idea is great and I’d love to see you do it.
April 5th, 2006 at 5:05 pm
I like your video instructional podcasts.
Your idea of “How to do a video podcast” sounds interesting. Go for it…..
April 5th, 2006 at 6:56 pm
Izzy,
I am enjoying your weekly video tips and my interest is in the “how to” instructions with an emphasis on good videography that is “edit friendly” for storytelling.
Thanks for all you do!

April 5th, 2006 at 6:59 pm
Hi Israel,
I have a brain injury and this is great for me to have the video because I have problems with reading now. So now I can make my DV better and make my puppy a star! I can send it to my family and it helps for me in rehab.
Thank-you so much!
April 5th, 2006 at 7:25 pm
I have started doing podcasts and haven’t done any since I could not figure out how to put a picture with out podcast. In other words when I post to iTunes with iWeb it puts a default podcast icon/picture with it. If you search in iTunes for kolc-tv you can see it. Sure I read the importing docs in importing podcast within iTunes but I could not figure it out.
Please, please go over this.
Thank you
April 5th, 2006 at 7:26 pm
I would be very interested in a series on video podcasting. I realize Apple has already done this, but I would like to see your approach. I have yet to see a video podcast better than yours.
April 5th, 2006 at 9:04 pm
I love the podcast. and thanks for taking the time to really explane everything very clearly.
now about the the “how to vid. Podcast” i how ever will not use it BUT i think you should do it so that any vid. podcast will be inproved.
thanks for the podcast.
April 5th, 2006 at 9:17 pm
hmm…i’m not sure, i would like to learn how to do podcasts, but you are suggesting that i could be making my own video podcasts? if that’s true, i could really benefit from that, and i think that would be a great thing to do for a little while…and if it doesn’t work out, keep the idea and ask some other time down the road. (love the show!)
April 5th, 2006 at 9:49 pm
I’ve found your podcasts straightforward, interesting and very informative. Because they’re simple and uncluttered it’s really easy to learn from them. Thank you for your investment of time, energy and resources. Yes, I’d be very interested in a series on video podcasting–but not if it means sacrificing the Izzyvideo podcast.
April 5th, 2006 at 10:04 pm
This was a terrific tip. I never knew how dynamic diagonal lines make a video! re:video podcasting-I’d watch, but am only mildly interested in what’s required and wouldn’t be doing it (I do blog).
The tips and beginner/amateur common errors (in shots, audio, lighting, transitions, titles, …) are REALLY interesting for us beginners with our first camcorder.
I know you use Macs, but I am Windows/Premiere Elements 2.0. But the techniques of video shooting and editing are not specific to any one platform or software. Please keep up the great work.
April 5th, 2006 at 10:07 pm
PODCASTs! PODCASTs! PODCAST! PODCASTs! PODCAST! PODCASTs!
Please show us how to make one…..Love your shows, Ive learned alot..
April 6th, 2006 at 12:28 am
Sure a “how to vidcast” would be welcome. I am trying to do one myself. Lots of questions - like how do you know the actual number of subscribers? Thanks for doing the current show - DV Tutorials. But how are you making any money? All this for the fun of it? I have sooo many more questions, I know I would personally benefit.
April 6th, 2006 at 12:40 am
Mr. Hyman,
I am definitely interested in pod-casting. Especially tips on non-copyrighted sound tracks along with encoding do’s and don’ts.
I am in the beginning stages of a part time career in DV production as well as being a still photographer for many years now. I can use all the help I can get !!
Thanks so much for what you are doing ! Also thank you to Woven Shadows’s Jerry Hyman. Both of you are very insightful and great teachers.
April 6th, 2006 at 5:31 am
Very VERY interested in your podcasting tutorials. Perhaps if some people are not so interested, maybe make it on a different feed?
April 6th, 2006 at 6:37 am
Absolutely! I would love to learn podcasting from you. I have enjoyed and learned so much already. Keep up the good work.
April 6th, 2006 at 8:31 am
Dear Izzy:
First I want to commend you on the fine videos you have already provided.
I am a Grandpa and shoot lots of videos of my grandkids. Your tutorials have VASTLY improved my videos - even my kids tell me they’re better.
On PODCASTS - I’ve watched a few (besides yours) and find too many of poor quality. ANYTHING you could do to remedy that situation would be welcome. I probably wouldn’t produce podcasts myself but I would benefit from those who produce higher quality podcasts through you excellent tutorials.
Again - thank you so very much for what you have provided. I look forward to each and every episode.
April 6th, 2006 at 9:18 am
My First reaction would be to say No, I don’t really have a desire to see a ‘how to video podcast’ podcast. Then again, I never know what I’m going to learn when I get the next podcast from you. So if you think us viewers would benefit from your insight in this area, go for it. I won’t unsubscribe or anything ;-). Another idea instead of dedicating so much time to it would be to just do one or two episodes zipping through your thoughts on each step, and then point us viewers to websites and resources that would be specific to PC or Mac users, FCP people or iMovie/Garageband types, (or whatever PC people attempt to use these days). Thanks for all you do.
April 6th, 2006 at 10:21 am
Please do the vidcasting howto series on this feed or a seperate one, just as long as you create it I will watch.
April 6th, 2006 at 10:52 am
I would be very interested in a series of developing vodcast episodes. Also, there are many teachers I work with that would be interested.
April 6th, 2006 at 10:52 am
Hey I would love to see that “how to podcast” series.
April 6th, 2006 at 11:41 am
Do it. I’m always interested in learning more.
April 6th, 2006 at 12:52 pm
Yes! I’d like a new perspective on how to create a video podcast.
April 6th, 2006 at 1:15 pm
Hi Izzy
I would be very interested in video podcasting.
Regards

April 6th, 2006 at 4:47 pm
You do a great job with Izzyvideo and I would love to see a series on podcasting. I know you will do a great job and I really look forward to it.
Thanks for all you do,

April 6th, 2006 at 6:20 pm
what kind of camera do you use? i love the podcasts. i am not intrested in seeing a series on how to make them though. keep up izzy video though.
April 6th, 2006 at 10:50 pm
Would love to see a video podcasting series. As a podcaster myself i would find it very useful.
Check out my podcast at http://www.buzztown.net
April 6th, 2006 at 11:17 pm
Hi Izzy
Thanks for your podcasts, I look forward to them every week
It would be great to have a series on how to make podcasts
Thanks once again
April 6th, 2006 at 11:44 pm
A tutorial about how to create a video podcast would be great. The “how to” would most likely inspire more video podcasts which you undoubtedly would agree are orders of magnitude better than audio only podcasts.
April 7th, 2006 at 12:47 am
Oh ya Izzy! … learning how to podcast would be fantastic! Love the show!

Hi Izzy
Vidcasting is certainly a different branch. Could be interesting.
But please keep up the “regular” DV-Episodes.
Thanks for your great work!

April 7th, 2006 at 5:03 am
Thank you for the great podcasts. I am very interested in learning how to make video podcasts using a PC. I know about Podner for Mac, but there does’t seem to be anything better than QuickTime Pro for Windows.
April 7th, 2006 at 5:22 am
Hi Israel
Hello from New Zealand
Yes I would be very interested in learning how to video podcast. I find your podcasts very helpful.
April 7th, 2006 at 7:12 am
I, for one, am very interested in video podcasting tips.
Perhaps to better serve the demand, it should be a separate project from Izzy Video…
April 7th, 2006 at 7:17 am
Israel
Thanks so much for the work and effort you put forth on your video tutorials. I would very much appreciate a tutorial series on video podcasting.
April 7th, 2006 at 7:25 am
This is my first viewing, I got here by chance from Google looking for info on producing video show on podcast. I like very much your technical facility. I would appreciate your tutorials on podcast video and RSS, very much!!! Thanks, please continue!

April 7th, 2006 at 7:58 am
You have to do it…In fact, I found your site in part because I was looking for a way to video podcast, and although there are others out there, your style and delivery are far better… So, please do it, and try to include a path for me and the other Windows users out there to do the same. Thanks for a wonderful series!
April 7th, 2006 at 10:17 am
Please do create a series of video podcast how-tos.
April 7th, 2006 at 10:49 am
Yeap. Do the Podcasting (But limit them; let them not replace the current content). If you do these, I’m sure you will actually SEE the result of your efforts. By watching the product a many other fellows followers which will put your advises, and techniques into practise post them maybe even in a small open area of Glimpster.com. So YES, go for it.
April 7th, 2006 at 11:03 am
Man, I love your show!
Yes, I would love to see a few shows dedicated to podcasting. I really hope you get to do them.
Best Wishes,
Rich Reich
April 7th, 2006 at 12:06 pm
Yes, I am interested in starting a vblog focused on my industry. I just need to know more details about the time involved, hosting, creating for different viewers and speeds etc.
April 7th, 2006 at 12:23 pm
Izzy. You’re work has helped me as a filmmaker, and will help me when I start my own vodcast. Please put this together, as you will no doubt have a few tricks a season vet like myself could learn.
April 7th, 2006 at 12:26 pm
Hi Israel
Greetings from Brazil. Congratulations on your excellent job about video. Yes, I will be very interested in a program about how to do a video podcast.
Thank you for all the information you put available to us.
April 7th, 2006 at 1:13 pm
PLEASE SHOW PODCAST OF MAKING PODCASTS…. PLEASE
April 7th, 2006 at 2:18 pm
Hello Izzy,
I have enjoyed picking up numberous tips from your podcast. As I am new to video recording and general
photography they have been interestingly presented and helpful. I have been a chess teacher for over 10 years and now looking into podcasting and creating DVD lessons for my private and school classes. I would like to get your insites into creating video cast. I have seen a number of podcast that actually look like they are filming their desktop.
What is the most effective way to do this? Thanks Izzy!
April 7th, 2006 at 4:07 pm
Hello,
I always look forward to your tutorials. I usually watch on Fridays after I get my lesson plans done. I’d love to learn how to make a podcast! I might be able to share some of my projects with my students and friends, right?

Love your shows. Extremely helpful and well done. Would love a series on video podcasts. Thanks for sharing your expertise.
April 7th, 2006 at 4:39 pm
Hi Izzy,
I really appreciate the stuff you are doing now. I agree with Andi (Post 66) I would love to know how to put all the rss feeds and such, but please keep the regular episodes if possible.
April 7th, 2006 at 5:30 pm
I would be interested in learning about video podcasts.
April 7th, 2006 at 6:53 pm
I’d be interested in learning about Podcasts.
But I would also like to learn about general video editing, but not FCP specific, as I, and I’m sure others are using other editors out on market.

April 7th, 2006 at 7:54 pm
Izzy,
I’m new to your series on DV tutorials and am enjoying your work. I would appreciate learning more about creating video podcasts.
Keep up the good work! It’s clear you are appreciated by many.
April 7th, 2006 at 8:35 pm
I absolutely love the main theme you carry, of producing better home videos. And you are doing absolutely wonderful job on that.
I WOULD like if you can dedicate couple of episodes to producing video podcasts - but if that will not require way MORE production resources that regular episodes and take away you main focus.
I mean, lets be realistic - video podcasting is still way too hard and not a lot of people can do it and even less people can do a good job at it. But home video is done by probably more people than regular (audio) podcasts.
Thus, I feel that learning how to make better home video is WAY more usefull - than video podcasts.
just my two cents.
April 7th, 2006 at 9:30 pm
Love your tutorials. I can make the movie, how do I get it to my audience? WOuld love to see a few episodes on video podcasting.
April 7th, 2006 at 11:10 pm
Love the show, I would prefer you keep the focus on what your current program is. There are plenty of other Podcast that cover that subject and although I feel you would cover it better than most, I would hate to miss any upcoming DV subjects.
Thanks again for all your hard work,
April 7th, 2006 at 11:44 pm
Great work! I think your tutorials are fantastic and I would like to see a few about how you actually get them done. I’m sure you could do it in a way that would be informative even to those not really interested in podcasting themselves. But, yes, I vote for some “how to” episodes on how you capture, edit and produce your shows.
April 8th, 2006 at 4:35 am
Yes, please show me how to podcast. I have a regular car club video that I would like to share with the world!
:)
Keep up the great work Izzy.
April 8th, 2006 at 4:57 am
I’m interested in the video podcast thing.
I’m still waiting for the ‘extra’ episode we were promised after filling in the survey a few months ago. Should we have it by now?
Many thanks for a very interesting and well made series.
April 8th, 2006 at 6:42 am
A few tutorials on how to create a video podcast from start to finish would be AWESOME!
April 8th, 2006 at 8:49 am
Izzy, fantastic idea! YES, please do a podcast series!
April 8th, 2006 at 9:15 am
First I wanted to thank you for all the good work you are doing. I teach 5th grade and all my kids have a laptop. We have also gotten a video grant. When I first started using the equipment it was apparent to me the effect I wanted was not what was the result of our work. I just didn’t know how to achieve good work. I found your podcast and have used that to teach videography and photography techniques. My kids can pick video and photos apart. They know what is good. They are also learning how to achieve quality work thanks to your podcast.
I would absolutely love to find out how to do a pod cast. We are using Final Cut Express (trying, it is difficult) and I think creating a podcast would give us a way to use that program for a short program.
Once again thanks for all your doing you are reaching a whole new generation of videographers/photographers. Many of the kids said that they never realized that taking photos the correct way is so important and valuable. Also the analyzing and evaluative skills they are acquiring is invaluable.
Yes to Podcast series!
April 8th, 2006 at 9:39 am
Hi Izzy:
Thanks for your great work. I believe a couple of tutorials on how to set up, shoot, and edit video (and audio) for a video podcast would be very helpful
I am particularly interested in the process of identifying a subject, storyboarding, scripting, teleprompting, working with subjects, and so on.
April 8th, 2006 at 10:36 am
Although there are other ‘how to’ video podcasts examples out there, I’m sure your experience in video podcasting is worth sharing, even for one episode.
I’m particularly interested in whether you film episodes with 320*240 ipod delivery in mind and how that affects your composition, or do you expect to be watched on larger computer screens? Also, why did you swap back from M4V to MP4?
Every week you hit the obvious things I always overlook, and now I really think about what I’m about to do, Thanks for sharing!
April 8th, 2006 at 1:42 pm
Izzy,
Thank you SOOO much for your video podcast. Yes, I WOULD LOVE to see a series of How TO pod/video podcast! That’s my vote!
Aloha!
April 8th, 2006 at 2:28 pm
#25 was a great show. started kinda slow with the static pages with text and even the title was questionable. BUT, thru the use of examples, it was VERY clear that the lines did make a dramatic effect. Such a simple thing but makes a big difference. I ended up really enjoying this episode.
I would be interested in a how-to on Podcasting.
April 8th, 2006 at 2:46 pm
I’m interested in the Podcast video.
Keep up the good work!
April 8th, 2006 at 3:03 pm
Izzy,
I have subscribed to your RSS feed and download every izzyvideo I can get. I have even participated in the green screen survey. Thank you for that bonus video. I think a video tutorial on how to do a vpodcast would be Excellent idea. I have been toying with the idea of doing a vpodcast a of my own. [RSS] with a few random clips. I am doing my videos on a Windows platform using Adobe Premiere at 320*240 - in DivX and mp3 audio.
April 8th, 2006 at 6:51 pm
Great advice about the lines, I ‘ve never heard about. Now I can see why fotographs look good when are taken from uncommon angles.
And YES definitely I want to know the details of podcasting
April 9th, 2006 at 6:02 am
Yes , some video podcasting tutorials are amazing …
and thanks for your tutorials … they are great ..
April 9th, 2006 at 7:59 am
Hi,
thanks for wonderful shows!
I have been to music.podshow.com but are not sure that it is possible to download free music whitout having af podshow going on.
What if I want to use the for my own private video, is that possible, and how?
April 9th, 2006 at 8:48 am
Izzy, your podcasts are great!!! I do some video production, and your show is very informative. I would definitely want to learn how to create my own podcast.
April 9th, 2006 at 2:13 pm
I’m definitely interested in a “How to make a video podcast”. Please put the time in doing this. It would benefit everyone.
April 9th, 2006 at 2:32 pm
Thanks for the practical info. Yes, your tips on video podcasting would be appreciated!
April 9th, 2006 at 5:15 pm
Hi Izzy, yes I’d be interested in a Podcast series. As long as there are still regular video episodes.
April 9th, 2006 at 5:58 pm
I am definitely interested in how to produce podcasts. I am a teacher working in a PC environment, however, I do have access to one eMac with GarageBand. I know you can create Podcasts with GarageBand but I haven’t done so as yet. Also, I would love to know how to set up a server for my school to allow students, parents and teachers to access podcasts created by students, teachers or myself throuhout the district without opening it up to the entire world. If you have any information about that I would also love to hear from you.
Thanks
April 9th, 2006 at 9:50 pm
I would be interested in a serries on producing a video podcast.
I have already created some podcasts using Apple’s Garage Band and using iWeb to publish…however, these have only used still photos in the podcast.
April 10th, 2006 at 1:36 am
Yes I would like to see that.
April 10th, 2006 at 1:53 am
I agree with several of the comments above. I would like very much to see how you treat the subject of “vodcasting”. It has been done in other places, but you have a special touch! I like your direct, clean format, and made for iPod size screen video. But I wouldn’t want it to stop you from continuing the “regular” series. I look forward to your new ‘casts.
April 10th, 2006 at 3:29 am
I am interested in a how-to series on video podcasting. Despite other comments, it could be useful for showing how to put a complete video together using all of the tutorials your have already shown, ignoring the fact that it is for podcasting.
Excellent work as allways.
April 10th, 2006 at 5:51 am
I would really enjoy a series on producing a video podcast… especially since that is why I am watching your show in the first place. I’ve learned a lot of essentials already, so thankyou very much!
April 10th, 2006 at 11:42 am
I would be very interested in a how to on podcasting.
April 10th, 2006 at 3:08 pm
Yes,I would to learn how to video podcast.I think it would be fun!
April 10th, 2006 at 4:36 pm
A series on how-to podcasts would be interesting.
Episode 25 was pretty neat. I thought that the lines thing was going to be subtle, but it surprised me how blatantly better the diagonal shots were.
April 10th, 2006 at 4:44 pm
Hi:
I really enjoy your video podcast. I would very much enjoy a series on podcasting. If you have the time, I’d personally appreciate it.
I appreciate all your tips… please keep up the great work!

Izzy,
Good stuff and I would like to see the “How to do a video podcast.”
Thanks,
Michael
April 10th, 2006 at 8:06 pm
Thanks for all the great tutorials!
I really like the video composition and editing tips. Instead of 6 episodes on podcasting, maybe you could do just one on podcasting basics and then a few on the commonalities between podcasts and video production. If you whet our appitites, we may want you to do it in more depth later.
April 11th, 2006 at 6:29 am
Yes, I’d like to see how to make a podcast, or more specifically how to do the editing in FCP, kind of like a video FCP for dummies.
Please keep up the great work.
April 11th, 2006 at 7:17 am
Dear Izzy:
I appreciate the wonderful instructional videos that you put out. They have been very helpful to me. I will vey much like to get info on how to create podcast specially vodcast that you do. I work at a University whrer I help faculty in using new technology for their classes and podcasting is gaining popularity. If only I could show them your feed, o refer to them to that so that they can really get going. Its like having a personal instructor to lead them thru the entire process.
Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Ari
April 11th, 2006 at 11:55 am
Hey Izzy,
Please do the Vidcast series. Frankly I’m interested in pretty much any information you have to share in the video realm. You do a great job of making it digestible for anyone.
Today I made a contribution via Pay Pal from your website and I urge others who, like me, have benefitted greatly from your series to do the same.
Thank you so much for your willingness to share.
April 11th, 2006 at 1:07 pm
Hey,
I have my own video podcast going right now, but would love to know how you do it, and what compression settings you use for your video file.
Thanks!
April 11th, 2006 at 5:27 pm
I would be very interested in a how-to do a video podcast starting with a high-level overview of what you ned to get started.
I would also like to know the name of the theme music and band that plays it.
Thanks, Lee
April 11th, 2006 at 8:18 pm
I would certainly be interested in a how-to podcast.
Keep up the excellent work.
April 12th, 2006 at 12:28 am
Izzy:
I find your video tutorials very educational and they keep me coming back for more. For this reason, I choose not to learn about video podcasting at this time. As interesting as learning how to podcast would be (and I appreciate that it exists, or there’d be no Izzy videos to watch), I want to learn more about techniques and approaches to using video.
I view many podcasts on a weekly basis, and I want you to know that yours has been the only one that I’ve felt strongly enough about to place a vote, so keep up the excellent work.
P.S. An excellent complement to your podcast series would be a series on the software used to manipulate the video in post production …. food for thought!

It’d really be nice to see some tutorial on creating video podcasts. That’s what I’d been looking for.
April 13th, 2006 at 8:23 am
I would like to see a podcast on podcasting. I’ve been watching others on that topic, but would prefer to see one presently by you. However, ONLY if it doesn’t take time away from this podcast as I’d much rather see more IzzyVideo episodes than less and some of something else.
April 13th, 2006 at 12:28 pm
I’d be interested in a Vodcast tutorial, espescially a walk through the jungle of formats, I don’t have a DV camera but my still camera shoots 640×480 AVIs at 30 frames. I’d like to know how to make these look as good as possible when importing into iMovie/Final Cut for editing.
Thanks for a great show.
April 13th, 2006 at 3:28 pm
I believe that tring to show people how to do a video podcast is already done. I believe it’s Called “how to make a podcast” by Lucas.
April 13th, 2006 at 4:56 pm
Really good episode on lines/directing the eye this week, thank you. If you do tutorials on podcasting I hope they will be easy for nontechnical people to understand and use. Also, it would be fun to see what other people are now able to do since watching your podcast - is there a way to link your site to podcasts folks have done after watching you?
You are doing a great service to teach us all this..thanks so much.
